June 30, 2008 - Day 21

Happy 3 week birthday Brendan. We cannot believe how fast time is going and how quickly our baby boy is growing up. Wish there was a way to stop time.

Brendan had an ok day today. He had a couple Brady's overnight (Nurse:Eileen) last night, one this morning (Nurse: Erin) and then one while we were with him tonight. He also had to be given a blood transfusion today. It was a surprise to us when we got to the hospital and saw the IV in his arm. He did not look like a happy baby at all with that thing in his arm. The nurse said they did their usual testing and Brendan's hemocrit level was low so they gave him blood. They will recheck his levels Tuesday and go from there. There is a chance he could need more blood but the nurse tonight didn't think he would. She also reassured us that this is totally common for preemies and in the end will be helpful to Brendan because it will lessen his chances of desatting.

Brendan spent part of his 3 week birthday cuddled up on his mom. He seems to really enjoy when we hold him and we enjoy it as well. When we left Brendan was content and smiling whil he slept.
