July 3, 2008 - Day 24
Brendan had an okay day today. He had a couple Brady's that were all self resolved and short. His morning nurse was Jessica his night nurse was Shea. Jessica is a really good nurse and loves Brendan.
We found out today that Brendan actually isn't ceftazidime resistant afterall. The preliminary results showed that he was but in the end he was negative, yaya! Today Brendan also totally removed him feeding tube from his nose, he is a strong one. And after his feeding, from the bottle and spitting up, nurse Jessica noticed that his belly was slightly (1.5 cm) disdented so they removed his feeding tube from his nose and did an x-ray on his stomach. The x-ray showed that Brendan is holding in gas. They hooked up an IV to feed him with for the next couple of days. The plan is to give his stomach a break and see what happens. They are going to do x-rays on is stomach everyday for the next week to keep an eye on it, longer if needed. In a couple days they will start reintroducing the bottle and see how he does with it. Nurse Shea said this is common for preemies and it may happen again but not to worry.
Because of the new IV and all that went on today we didn't get to hold Brendan but we did get to touch him through the isolette. I got to change Brendan's diaper tonight...a poopy one! Noone warned me that a boy will pee on you if you don't cover him up right away... yup he peed on me too haha.
And today Brendan got some presents in the mail. Thanks to Aunt Geri and KC he now has some books for his personal library. And thanks to Matt and Dennis for the adorable picture frame!
