July 12 & 13, 2008 - Days 32 & 33

July 12 & 13 - Days 32 & 33

Brendan had a pretty good day Saturday. When we were there he was wide awake, in fact the most awake he has been at any of our visits yet. He had one Brady but it was not a major one. Saturday the nurses goal, Nurses Kerry and Debbie, was to up Brendan's feeds to his goal intake of 24. They did this by increasing the cc's he receives every 12 hours until he hits the goal. Also because Brendan is receiving enough nutrition through the bottle/feeding tube they took out his IV line of fluids. I got to hold Brendan today.

Sunday was an eventful day for Brendan bath day, weigh-in and measuring. Because they switched him to all bottle feedings he did lose some weight but we were told to expect this. His weight loss was not a huge drop and will go back up by next week. Tonight was Devins turn to hold Brendan ...he slept through most of the visit. He had a pretty bad Brady while Devin was holding him, turned a bit blue the nurse had to put him back in the isolette to work on him another nurse came over to help her and they had to use the oxygen mask. Nurse Karen said it was due to reflux and apnea he was too comfy on his dad. With time he will outgrow both the reflux and apnea. After the Brady he went back to sleep, squiriming and making faces :)
