July 10, 2008 - Day 31
Lots of changes today for Brendan and all good ones! Brendan's morning nurse was Nurse Francine his nighttime nurse is Nurse Debbie. He had a good night last night and did well with his feedings. Today they continued to offer him the bottle, 5-10cc's, they are encouraging him to take it all but he generally takes 5-7cc's. They also are lowering his IV fluids to see if less fluids will help him to take more from the bottle.
Today Brendan was switched to a different nose canula. They have him now on one that offers him more humidified air that they can control better. This new canula is a step in the right direction. He is still at 21-22%, with 21% being room air that we breathe. The nurses say they put it at 21% and Brendan fusses but at 22% he is fine hah.
Tonight was Devins turn to hold Brendan they both slept. Devin also got to feed him again. He will be a pro at this stuff by the time Brendan comes home. Towards the end of his feeding Brendan was alert with his eyes open and making some pretty funny faces for us. His hair is looking blonder everyday!
